“Do you know the really pathetic thing though is that [Frank] talks to her like she's a premier league player!

“He tells her off saying, 'No, one, two, one two…' a proper football conversation and I say, 'She's two and a half Frank!' So she doesn't stand a chance, she has to be a footballer!”

On how Patricia is with her new baby brother, Christine said: “She is really good. Is he like her dolly? A little bit, but then she forgets he is there and couldn't care less! But if she hears a little moan she starts singing little songs to him, which we thought was quite sweet.

“But she has been really good actually. She has been a nice big sister so far, but it's early days!”

Christine Lampard opens up on mum life in first interview since birth of son

July 13, 2021

Christine Lampard has opened up on her life at home and being a mum of two in her first interview since having baby Freddie.

The Newtownards star appeared on Lorraine on Tuesday, and will be filling in as host for four weeks this summer.

The Northern Irish woman admitted how it's been great to get out of the house recently with hubby Frank Lampard, and how her daughter Patricia might follow in his footsteps when it comes to football.

When asked how everything was going at the minute, Christine said: “This is practically the first time I’ve left the house! It feels really really nice… [but we are] really, really good. He’s a great little baby, he slipped into the family just seamlessly. He's been a gorgeous little addition.

“He’s just over four months already so he’s sitting up… he’s just great [and to have] a little boy in the house – a bit of a change!”

Despite Freddie arriving during lockdown, Christine said that Frank was able to be there at the birth.

“Yes, we were very lucky. There were so many ladies through the early stages [of lockdown] that just didn’t have that chance… but we were very lucky. He wasn’t able to go to all the appointments leading up to it, but that’s fine, but he was there for the big day thankfully – I did need him!” she added.

On how her eldest child Patricia is with her new baby brother Freddie, the North Down woman said, “She is really good. Is he like her dolly? A little bit, but then she forgets he’s there and couldn’t care less! But if she hears a little moan she starts singing little songs to him, which we thought was quite sweet.

“But she has been really good actually. She has been a nice big sister so far, but it’s early days!”

The presenter also told how Freddie is sleeping really well and that he love his food and being cuddled.

She added: “He’s just been great and we feel very, very lucky. Touch wood, it's all gone very, very well.

“So many people have gone through such horrific times during the past year and certainly being pregnant in that time was unusual, you felt quite isolated and it was a bit lonely… and going to hospital appointments and having a baby is a positive thing, but you did have moment where you thought, ‘This is not ideal’ and you did feel for people that were struggling at that stage.

“But we got through it and he [Frank] was there, thankfully, on the big day and we got out of hospital relatively quickly and all doing well.”

Christine also spoke about Freddie's current sleep routine and said: “The night before last, I had him asleep before half past eight and I had to wake him up at eight o’clock – I mean that was the first, but I thought, ‘If we can get that routine going, oh my goodness me, we’ve nailed it!'

“But you know that’s not going to happen in August when I have to be here at 5am, that’s when he’s not going to sleep!”

She also told Lorraine that she cannot wait to be filling in on the show over the summer.

“Well we were not too far away so I liked that we could get back really quickly… but there were lots of check ups and lots of photographs – but it happened, we did it and got out of the house! It was a lovely day, I love Wimbledon,” the Newtownards native told Lorraine.

The TV presenter also spoke opened up on Frank being a Euros pundit, revealing that they all “felt the pressure” on Sunday as millions were watching, but how she doesn't miss her hubby playing football.

“Just watching penalties the other night, oh my gosh, that’s one aspect of football… I just hated it. The stress of it. Thankfully he scored many more than he missed thank goodness but the anxiety leading up to it, outweighed the positive of him actually scoring. The stress beforehand just wasn't worth it. I find it really quite painful as a spectator.

“I have had people coming to me and speaking to me about football that would never have mentioned it or would have known that it was happening [before]… so just that alone is a really positive thing. Whole families sat to watch that game, so that's a really big positive.”

Christine also spoke about how daughter Patricia “absolutely loves football”, but that ex-footballer and manager Frank talks to her “like she’s a premier league player!”

She said: “He tells her off saying, ‘No, one, two, one two..’ a proper football conversation and I say, ‘She’s two and a half Frank!’… so she doesn’t stand a chance, she has to be a footballer!”

The Co Down woman flew back to Northern Ireland recently to see her family, and added: “Long may it continue.”

You can watch Lorraine on weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITV Hub
