The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued the following:

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING…

•WHERE…Broome, Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, Tioga, & Tompkins Counties in New York. In Pennsylvania, Bradford and Susquehanna Counties. •WHEN…Until 12 pm Monday •PRIMARY THREATS…Parts of the area have already received significant rainfall   during the past several days. Additional heavy rainfall may cause   localized flash flooding, especially poor drainage areas and locations that have very wet soils from recent rains. •REMEMBER…Showers will develop this afternoon, becoming heavy at times this   evening into Monday morning, with thunder also possible. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

YATES COUNTY, N.Y. (WROC) — UPDATE 7/11/21: Deputies say Michael Battley, 48, of Seneca Falls, was operating the boat and one of his passengers, Cynthia Stuck, of Waterloo, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was 65 years old.

Deloss Stuck, 57, of Waterloo, was taken to Thompson Hospital for treatment. He’s the husband of Cynthia Stuck. Jessica Stine, 40, of Fishers, is Cynthia’s daughter. David Knorr and Alyssa Knorr, 44 and 40, both of Clifton Springs, were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Former Chemung County Legislator, Sidney S. “Sid” Graubard Jr., 88, passed away on July 6, 2021.

According an obituary on the Lynch Funeral Home website, Sid was born on July 6, 1933 in Manhattan, NY the son of the late Sigmund and Josephine Graubard. He was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with the United States Army.

Flash Flood Watch Issued For Parts of the Community

July 11, 2021

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for parts of Central New York that include Southern Oneida County, Madison, Otsego and Chenango Counties until 12:00PM Monday. Showers will develop Sunday afternoon and are expected to become heavy at times from Sunday evening into Monday morning.

The areas in the Watch include Utica, Rome, Oneonta, Norwich, Oneida and Hamilton.

Parts of the area in the watch area already experienced significant rainfall last week. The additional rainfall may cause localized Flash Flooding in areas where the soil is already wet from recent rains and where drainage is poor.

Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Colleen Hurley recommends that those who live in flood prone areas should prepare to take action, if needed, and have an evacuation plan ready.

People who reside in the Watch Area should monitor conditions and be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
