He explained that the program is keen to qualify the UAE youth within the best standards, and that the selection of the two new astronauts was based on several criteria, and the finalists underwent tests to be selected in the end, Noura Al Matrooshi and Muhammad Al Mulla, and they have the scientific qualifications required for the Emirates Astronaut ProgramNora Al Matrooshi, the first Emirati astronaut, said that her dream of becoming an astronaut was five years old, and that her passion for the space sector started from the school in which she studied.

She confirmed that she studied mechanical engineering at the UAE University to realize her dream in the space sector, and that her career began in the oil and gas sectorShe added that the UAE Astronaut Program provided her with an opportunity to realize her childhood dream and become an astronaut, praising the UAE’s efforts to empower women in various fields and sectors.

In his response to the “Al-Ain News” query, Mohammed Al-Mulla, the Emirati astronaut, confirmed that there is no psychological obstacle by being in the batch that includes the first Emirati and Arab astronaut, adding: “Instead, we will work within one team to raise the status of the UAE.

“Al Mulla thanked the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center for providing him and Noura Al Matrooshi with the opportunity to represent the UAE in this global achievement.

He said that his selection in the second batch is an important achievement for him, a great pride and a dream that has been achieved to represent the UAE in the space sector.
