The 22nd edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair kicked off on Thursday, with the participation of 228 publishing houses from 14 Arab and foreign countries, and will last for 10 days.

The activities of the new session will be held on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair under the slogan “The Book is a Homeland” with the participation of Iraqi, Arab and foreign publishing houses from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Jordan, Qatar, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey and Germany.

The Director-General of the Baghdad International Fair Sarmad Taha Saeed said that the exhibition will witness a large participation of publishing houses with many new publications and titles in various literary, artistic, scientific and cognitive fields to enrich the Iraqi library.

He explained that the exhibition days will witness accompanying cultural events, cultural and artistic seminars, book signing parties, poetry evenings, discussion tables and seminars covering various titles with the participation of local, Arab and foreign cultural, artistic and political figures, as well as holding various art exhibitions.

The Iraqi authorities have taken strict preventive measures to confront the Corona virus, represented by distributing masks to visitors, placing sanitary devices to sterilize the air at the gates of the exhibition halls, and placing signs and posters for social distancing.

The supervising authorities of the exhibition allowed visitors to visit the exhibition pavilions in the morning and evening periods to view, purchase books, and participate in its activities, which will continue until the 20th of this month
