Announcement of a series of short films on 2021 Secrets of the Papal Collections 2021 in the Vatican Museums

The Vatican announced, Tuesday, a series of short films on “the secrets of the Papal collections” in the Vatican Museums.

The first episode of the series is devoted to the marble sculpture “Belvedere Torso”, which served as the inspiration for the famous artist Michelangelo.

This photo series, called “Celata Polkrieto: Secrets of the Vatican Museums”, is held in cooperation between the museums and the Media Group of the Holy See (Vatican News), according to a Vatican statement.

The statement indicated that these short films, which revolve around “unknown secrets and stories that hide behind the beauty of the masterpieces of the Vatican collections”, will be broadcast once a month over a year.

“Even the most famous and most photographed works conceal unknown details and aspects that must be discovered,” Andrea Tournelli, managing editor of Vatican News, said in remarks cited in the statement.

He added, “Thanks to the help of those who study, care for, restore and preserve them, we will try to bring as many people as possible to these treasures of beauty.

” The first episode of this short film series, entitled “The Teacher of Michelangelo”, began showing on Tuesday, and it deals with the marbling of “Belvedere Torso”, which had a great impact on the famous artist.

After being closed in the past weeks due to a third epidemic wave, the Vatican Museums is scheduled to reopen their doors on the third of next May
