Juventus will look to get back to winning ways in Serie A and strengthen their grip on the top four when they play host to Parma on Wednesday at 7.45pm (UK time).
Andrea Pirlo’s side suffered a 1-0 loss to Atalanta last time out, which subsequently allowed Gian Piero Gasperini’s Goddess to leapfrog their Turin counterparts into third and just make things a tad uncomfortable for the reigning champions, with Napoli just two points behind in fifth.

It’s been a difficult season for Pirlo in the Juventus hotseat and things could turn sour soon if his side are not careful. As it stands The Old Lady are fourth but Napoli are just two points behind in fifth with seven games to go, so Pirlo simply cannot afford to see anymore points drop by the wayside, or risk not qualifying for the Champions League.
As for Parma they are experiencing their own problems and are in serious risk of dropping down to Serie B unless fortunes turn soon. Mid-season appointment Roberto D’Aversa has been unable to galvanise the troops and navigate a path to safety, with The Crusaders winless in their last four games and now 10 points adrift of safety. It would take a remarkable comeback from here to escape danger.
The big news for Juve is that Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the matchday squad after missing the 1-0 reversal to Atalanta over the weekend with a flexor injury.
“Ronaldo and Buffon will play, and I think Dybala too. He must play to recover his best condition, the Atalanta game was really tough, but I believe he put in a good performance,” Pirlo said in his pre-Parma press conference.
The Italian coach went on to add that Federico Chiesa will miss the contest owing a muscle problem, with the versatile attacker joining Merih Demiral on the sidelines.
Parma meanwhile have a host of problems with Bayern Munich loanee Joshua Zirkzee sidelined, as well as Roberto Inglese with an ankle issue, Simone Iacoponi, Juraj Kucka and Andrea Conti.

There are still
Hey, look! Actual football!
There are still games going on, and still important games at that.
That’s hard to remember sometimes when there’s everything else going on that is being decided by dudes who will never step on the field outside of any future charity matches and some friendly games at random parks in their respective cities.
Juventus takes on Parma tonight with the backdrop of the club’s role in the now-imploded Super League still very fresh in everybody’s mind. Juventus, as a club, is still very much in a fight to try and make the Champions League next season because there is still a Champions League spot to fight for and not just punt on because the Super League is here to bail them out. The race for the top four in Italy is very much a wild ride these final seven rounds of action, and Juventus has even more of a target on their backs based on what has gone down the last three days ever since they lost to Atalanta in Bergamo.
This is your reminder that there is still plenty going on ON THE FIELD even though there is even more going on OFF the field.
Juventus is barely hanging on to fourth place right now. Their opponents tonight, Parma, are essentially relegated down to Serie B even though they’re still mathematically alive. Time is most definitely running out on a club that was such a feel-good story upon their return to Serie A, and the reaction to how last weekend’s seven-goal thriller against Cagliari ended pretty much summed up their current situation.
We will see how Juventus responds to their latest loss from over the weekend. We will see how Juventus responds to everything going on off the field that doesn’t involve any of the players that will step onto the field tonight.
If anything, tonight should be interesting for that simple reason.
And hopefully Andrea Agnelli is prepared to have his face on camera a couple more times than usually happens because he is very much a man who’s name is not very popular at the moment.
