Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton at Goodison Park in a Premier League meeting that could end one of the two teams’ European hopes

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Goodison Park for another crunch Premier League match as they look for some revenge against Everton.

The Toffees have had the better of Spurs this season with a 1-0 win in the opening game of the season and then a 5-4 victory after extra-time in the FA Cup fifth round in February.

Jose Mourinho's men are looking to rescue their Premier League campaign following a poor run which has brought seven defeats in their past 11 league matches.

With Spurs six points off the top four in seventh and Everton a point behind in eighth but with a game in hand, whichever team loses at Goodison Park is then all but out of the race for a Champions League qualification spot, while a draw would help neither club in their aspirations.

One blow for Everton is that they are without Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front, with the striker having scored in both encounters against Tottenham this season.

Calvert-Lewin is one of a number of Everton absentees while Mourinho has only full-backs Ben Davies and Matt Doherty out of action injured.

Our Spurs reporters Rob Guest and Alasdair Gold are covering the match today with Rob at Goodison Park and Alasdair providing his analysis throughout the game.

He hobbled off in added time with another ankle injury.

It finishes 2-2

Three minutes added on

Huge opportunity for Everton to take the lead as Richarlison blazes over from inside the area after Lloris had denied King.

Josh King now on for Tom Davies.

The Argentine runs through the middle and scoops an effort over the crossbar.

Kane's header shaves the right-hand post from Lucas' cross.

Harry Kane scores again from another Everton defensive mix-up.

It's a rocket of a finish and he's now on his own as the seventh all-time top scorer in the Premier League, having been joint with Robbie Fowler before that strike.

What a finish.

Lamela and Lucas come on for Ndombele and Reguilon.

Both have struggled today.

It's now 2-1 to Everton as Sigurdsson scores with a superb finish after Coleman picked him out with a low cross.

Richarlison has the ball in the net but he's offside.

Coleman comes on in Everton's first change as Iwobi makes way.

Swift break from Spurs and Kane feeds Ndombele but his shot is deflected over the crossbar.

Alderweireld heads the subsequent corner against the outside of the left-hand post.

Chance for Spurs as Son gets past Keane and is denied by Pickford from a tight angle.

We're up and running again in L4.

No changes for Spurs.

Everton are on top here at Goodison Park and Spurs are perhaps lucky to be level.

Hugo Lloris has been called into a couple of saves now to deny James Rodriguez and Richarlison, with Jordan Pickford having next to nothing to do at the other end of the pitch.

Tottenham have been so sloppy in the opening 45 minutes and that has allowed the hosts to take the game to them.

Things need to drastically improve in the second half or Jose Mourinho could be facing yet another defeat.

It's all square at 1-1 at the break.

Three minutes added on at the end of the first half.

Chance for Godfrey there at the back post but he cannot keep his header down.

Lloris stops Richarlison's header from finding the net following Sigurdsson's corner.

Lloris saves low down from Rodriguez after some good play from the hosts.

Fine save from the Frenchman.

Sigurdsson makes it 1-1 from the penalty spot after Reguilon had fouled Rodriguez in the box.

Harry Kane scores – his 20th Premier League goal of the season.

Tanguy Ndombele's cross is headed on by Keane and Kane controls it and volleys it home clinically.

Lloris is called into action as he stops Richarlison's low effort from finding the corner.

Hojbjerg gets one after just seven minutes for a cynical tug back on Sigurdsson.

First chance for Everton as Sigurdsson's curling effort goes over the crossbar.

We're up and running on Merseyside.

Both teams are now out on the pitch as Z Cars plays around Goodison.

Both teams have just finished warming up and headed back inside with kick-off not that far away.

Is this Jose Mourinho preparing his team for the formation they will use in the Carabao Cup final?

While Joe Rodon will not be able to play that day, he could well use a back three twice before that day at Wembley in nine days' time in order to get the team well drilled for that huge test against Manchester City.

Mourinho says he's only looking at tonight and not about any other game but it could be a sign of things to come.

This formation puts pressure on the wing-backs Sergio Reguilon and Serge Aurier to get high up the pitch and get crosses into the box for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to get some service.

Tanguy Ndombele in the number 10 role will have the duty of providing the bulk of any creativity through the middle, although Kane will likely drop back at times with Son running through ahead of him.

Steven Bergwijn still can't find a way back into a matchday squad due to Spurs' numbers of attacking players while Carlos Vinicius also finds himself out of the reckoning.

There are certainly going to be a lot of bodies in front of the Tottenham goal with the three centre-backs and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and now Moussa Sissoko patrolling in front of them.

If they concede goals aplenty with this formation – the 17th different set up Mourinho has used in defence in the 32 Premier League matches this season – then it's tough to see how they'll ever shut up shop again.

Jose Mourinho has changed things up this evening by going with a back three against Everton.

That means Toby Alderweireld starts for the first time since last month's international break and he partners Eric Dier and Joe Rodon at the heart of defence.

Given that he has constantly chopped and changed at the back this season, his selection may hint at the setup he could operate with against Man City in next weekend's Carabao Cup final.

As Spurs are going to have to remain extremely tight against Pep Guardiola's men, three at the back may in fact be the way to go.

Elsewhere, Tanguy Ndombele has an important job in the team as he's the only creative player in midfield as Moussa Sissoko comes in to play alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

A team that is strong enough to get the job done against Everton due to their mixed record at home, Spurs really need to perform better than they have done in the past couple of games.
