Premier League champions Liverpool have agreed to pay two million pounds for the services of Preston defender “Ben Davis”, to compensate for the team’s severe shortage of defensive positions.

German coach Jürgen Klopp decided to sign a new defender to compensate for the absence of injured Virgil van Dyck, Joe Gomez, and finally Joel Matip, and club officials have shown interest in Davis, attracting them in part by the modest amount of the deal and the ability to pay it.

British “Sky Sports” reported that talks were underway regarding the transfer of young Liverpool center-back “Sepp van den Berg” to Preston on loan until the end of the season.

Davis was free to speak to clubs outside of England because it was in the final six months of his contract with Preston, which resulted in an agreement with Celtic.

However, the Scottish champions were aware of the interest of other clubs, including Bournemouth, and they were ready to try and sign him this month.

Liverpool has been looking into loan options, but contracting foreign players is more complicated due to travel restrictions due to the Corona virus, and the club is also concerned about hiring a more famous player who may return to the bench when Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez return.

Davis also plays in several positions in defense, which is what Liverpool currently lack, so he is considered a good fit in every aspect.

Davis, 25, grew up at the Youth Academy in Preston and had spent periods on loan with York, Southport and Newport, and is expected to undergo a medical examination in Liverpool on Monday.

He has played 19 games for Preston this season and completed a full 90 minutes in defeat, on Saturday, by Sheffield Wednesday in the second division of the Premier League
